Pour your pudding through a fine mesh sieve (optional, but this will eliminate any lumps) into a medium-sized heatproof bowl. Whisk together milk and egg yolks in a separate bowl. Remove from heat, and stir in chocolate, butter, and vanilla.
In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt.
Slowly pour egg mixture back into sauce pan, whisking constantly.
First, set a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add ½ cup of milk and egg yolks one at a time, whisking to combine after each. In a microwave-safe bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa and cornstarch.
