Chocolate Cut Out Cookies. Using a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, cream together butter and sugar. Line several cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Line several cookie sheets with parchment paper. Return remaining dough to refrigerator until ready to use. Scrape down sides and bottom of bowl as needed.
Mix dry ingredients, flour, baking powder, and salt in separate bowl.
Chill for at least one hour but up to several days.
Immediately roll chocolate-coated edges of cookie in nonpareils, if desired. Cook, stirring occasionally, over low heat until chocolate melts. Form each half into a disk, and wrap each in plastic wrap.
