In a mixing bowl, combine butter, powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla and beat on high until pale and fluffy. Add melted and cooled chocolate, beating until combined and scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Melt chocolate according to package instructions.
When added to frosting and exposed to the air, it turns a deep, jet black.
Allow to cool slightly before using.
Add the confectioners sugar and cocoa alternately with the milk. With the mixer still running, drizzle in the melted chocolate, allowing it to mix in completely. In a large bowl, beat the butter and shortening with an electric mixer on medium speed until combined.
